Up and Over !

I just wanted to post a quick update about our day thus far. Matthew has been learning to ride his 2 wheel bike (in between the rain drops) this week and has been doing really great! Well, today he wanted to ride up to the club house to the community pool, swim & hang out for a bit and then head back. So the 4 of us did that earlier. 1.26 miles up and back (2 ½ miles total!). We had to split up as Samantha was really going for it and Matthew had to keep stopping. Sam did incredible! No issues. No wobbling, no “I’m tired”, no crashes, no tears (except at the pool b4 we left). It is amazing how incredible it makes me feel. To see her being a "normal" kid, riding her bike and enjoying outside time. Gosh, I missed that so much over the past 2+ years and I know Matthew did (as well as Sam). She is really doing great and I am so thankful for every happy moment!

Ok, so speaking of Matthew, he did a super job this morning, as well. On our way back home, we went up to the main entrance and along the main road, not as many driveways and not as much maneuvering around cars. There is a wooden walking/riding bridge that goes over some really nasty “wet lands” for a bit right behind our house. Right b4 the bridge there is a maybe 3.5 – 4 foot drop off before the bridge & rails go up…yup, you see where I am going here. He made it up the hill to the bridge and right b4 it, wobbled and turned sharp right and went right off the “cliff” and down into the "pre" wet lands/ditch. I freaked, jumped off my bike, into the ditch, picked him up off the bike…yes, he had gone off, face first and was still holding onto the handle bars for dear life as I pried his hands off, scooped him up and out from under it got back onto the path. My first thought was broken bones and blood ~ my 2nd thought was Snakes and Gators! He was yelling "my bike my bike". (Yes, I went back and got it). He scared the H ~ E ~ double hockey sticks out of me! No broken bones, minor scraped, dirt and the bike is in one piece. Miracle!

School starts Monday. Both kids are very excited and I will continue on with my full time quest for the perfect job! ~ Thanks for any thoughts/leads/ideas on that one. My back is still a pretty major issue so my cleaning business is not the best idea for me right now...maybe someday but certainly not in the near future.

Please keep our cancer friends (and their families) in your prayers. Connor, Brooke, Justin, Mandy...those are a few names that just popped into my head, there are far too many to list. The fight is long and hard and very very scary. ...Thank you for continuing to check on Sam and our family.

With Never Ending Hope 4 A Cure,
K, J, S & M

Hi Joanne.
I didn't know that Sam had a new website. I have been waiting for you to update on the careingbridge.
I missed something a long the way.
I want to know if you can e-mail me a picture of Sam. I am doing a bulletin board at church for Childhood cancer awareness month.
I want to put a picture of all the kids and the websites.
Just let me know

Dear Joanna,

I am glad and relieved to read that Matthew was not hurt after falling with the bike.

I am thinking of Samantha, Matthew and all of you every day.

Did I ever say thank you for putting a link to my website? Sorry if I didn't. Thanka a million.

I wish the kids good luck with school. I wish them a fun school year.

I wish you best of luck with finding the perfect job.

Hugs to all of you.
